Freshman year (17) to Senior year (21)
Freshman year (17) to Senior year (21)

It is weird to look back on the past 4 years and realize how much I have changed. I started college at 17– anxious, scared, and lonely – and now I am graduating at 21– confident, full of love, and surrounded by amazing human beings. It is so crazy to me to see how far I have come. There were times early on in my college journey that I wanted to quit, drop out, give up, but I kept going. I switched my major my FIRST WEEK of college– Chemistry to undecided. Then after an amazing expository writing course I found my passion for writing. My sophomore year I decided to join the English department– which was the best decision I have ever made.

In the English department I met some of the sweetest, kindest, most creative souls I have ever met. I met some of my best friends that taught me so much about myself– shoutout to the LONG list of people: Adrienne, Haley, Emma, Bryson, Jenna, Mavis, Miles, Savannah, Autumn, Ella-Grace, Thomas, Will, Zoee, Grace, Madi, Sabrin, Daniel, Raine, Naadiya, Bethany, and literally everyone else in the English department!!! These people gave me a home inside and outside campus. I will always have a special place in my heart for my English majors!

My time in the English department changed the way I view the world. Through my original writing minor, I learned to see the world in bright colors that I can make art with. With my new minor – Public Writing and Rhetoric– I have learned to find meaning in everything I see and interact with. I have stopped looking at things at face value, and I now dig for meanings and purpose behind what I see.

I would like to shoutout a few more beautiful souls that helped me throughout my time in college that aren’t apart of the English department– BIG shoutout to: Eleanore, Andy, Alex, Bella, Ximena, Noah, THE MOVIE NIGHT CREW (I love you all), Isabelle, Emmy, Sarah, Jake, Braedyn, Ricky, Shelby, Rey & Devin! All of these beautiful people helped shape me the past four years in ways that I will forever be grateful for. They were the friends I wish I always had with me in all four years.

Big thanks to all my lovely friends and family! I have loved getting to spend my days and nights with you all every day. Thanks for the love and support – I couldn’t have graduated without you all.
