Falling in love is easy once you open your mind to loving more than a person. There is love all around us, in the air we breathe to the rain that hits the windowpane. Open up yourself to love. Love everything fiercely. Here are three love letters to things I adore.
Letter One: Scrabble
Laying on the hard concrete floors, with only a thin carpet between the floor and my skin, I fell in love with you. I made the first move, placing “HOME” on your center. I laughed while my sister and I took turns placing letters on your flesh. You gave me an opportunity to win, with your squares highlighting the places I should touch, but I was left with a “Q” and no place to go. I lost the game, but I still think back to my joints aching on the floor as I hunched over to play with you. Oh, how I loved it…every second.

Letter Two: The Sunrise
There was something in the Kentucky air when I saw you at last. I hadn’t seen you in ages, yet I longed to be touched by your hues of pinks and purples once again. There is something peaceful about you compared to your sister. While your sister represents the start of night and endless longing, you show me the light and how all things you touch grow and blossom under your kiss. I didn’t realize how much I needed to see you, until I saw you break through the clouds once again and hold my gaze. You saw through me and even then, you told me you loved me. I couldn’t help but cry at your beauty.

Letter Three: Painting Pottery
You sat down in front of me and told me I could do whatever I liked to you. No one has ever said that to me, and quite honestly, you frightened me. I didn’t want to ruin your beautiful softness by painting you with my love. I wanted to keep it simple, so I picked up a light blue and coated your skin. I did multiple layers so nothing would chip the blue off of you. Then I painted orange slices. You laughed at me then. You found it assuming I wanted a fruit bowl with a fruit I didn’t like on it. I joined in your laughter and told you I thought the color orange made you look beautiful. We stopped laughing at that and I looked at your finished coat and smiled. You were beautiful before, but now you are mine. I will cherish you with every fruit, except the orange. For we both know I don’t like them.

I beg of you to look for love in even the smallest of things as you go forth. Love is so sacred, and it doesn't only refer to people. Sometimes the smartest thing a person can do is find love within the world around them. So, write a love letter, and if you feel so passionate about it, I would love to read it and share the love with you. You can always contact me.
Best wishes always,
Jessica Law
